Ram Ratti
During His pilgrimages , Prabhuji reached Jamunia-Ghat on the banks of the Ganges situated on the borders of Bengal and Bihar. He had just had His bath and morning prayers, when He found two persons, a father and his son, engaged in a conversation. The father said,“Let us go in exile”. The son suggested,“Death by drowning ourselves in the Ganges, is better than such a life”. While the conversation was going on. Prabhuji intervened and enquired what the matter was. The son replied,”Mahatma ji ! mind your own business”. The father immediately forbade his son and said, “Sonny ! it is not fair to conceal facts from mahatmas !” He humbly submitted to Prabhuji, “One of our daughters, on account of bad company, has fallen to such immoral such ways of life that people condemn us; she does not listen to us. The entire reputation of our noble family have tarnished causing us such a frustration and desperation. We are very much fed up with her”.
Prabhuji enquired, “What is her name? Does she ever pass this way?” The father said,”Maharaj ! around this very time, she often passes this way and her name in Ram Ratti”. As the conversation was going on, the father of the girl saw Ram Ratti coming in the very direction. Apprehending that the girl might avoid them, her father and brother decided to hide themselves and prayed to Prabhuji to put her on the right path. In the meantime, Ram Ratti also reached there. Prabhuji called her and asked whether she would speak out the truth and tell whatever was enquired of her. She replied that she would do so since she was not afraid of anybody. Prabhuji asked what her daily routine was and also added that she would be appropriately rewarded if she spoke the truth. Ram Ratti revealed that four o five friends of her visited her in the morning and took her out for drinking and merriment. Prabhuji enquired what for she was reveling in that fashion. She frankly replied, “ For the sake of pleasure.” Prabhuji said, “If you get million times greater real bliss, would you change over or continue with the current course of life?” Ram Ratti inquired if there was some really better pleasure. Prabhuji replied, “Yes, close your eyes, concentrate on your forehead and we will let you experience it, right now”. She closed her eyes and Prabhuji transmitted His powers through shakti-sanchar. Ram Ratti entered into trance, had the divine vision, the divya darshan of Prabhuji and her inner joy knew no bounds. He called her father and the brother and putting her under their care and protection, Himself went away to visit some mahatma. After three days when He came back, He found that Ram Ratti, unaware of her physique, was still lying in ecstasy. Prabhuji called her out but there was no response.
Prabhuji asked her father, “Do you like this state of hers or that one which was previously had?” The father replied,”My Lord, this very position is perfectly alright”. Shri Prabhuji said, “Do not consider that she is unconscious, rather she has been transformed to goddess Durga. She should be fed with Milk from time to time and her clothes be kept neat and clean. If you render such services, your noble desires would be fulfilled”.
The people present there asked, “Maharaj ! does the privilege of service belong to her father and brother alone or can we also have the opportunity of service to her?” Prabhuji replied, “Whosoever serves her with devotion and affection, will be duly benefited”. At this, her father and the other people expressed great joy. In the state of trance, Ram Ratti was taken home. Prabhuji , thereafter, left for His onward journey.
